Orientation to Therapy Video

In this video segment, the therapist engages the family in their view of James’ presenting problem (i.e., why James is depressed, abusing substances, failing at school and hanging out with deviant peers). This segment occurs approximately 20 minutes into the session. Prior to this portion of the session, the therapist has joined with James and his parents by discussing their strengths and understanding the context of the family’s life (i.e., family structure, work, school, community). Family members have been engaged throughout the first 20 minutes. Henry had expressed some negativity about James during the conversation.
